SAN ANTONIO — UTSA will be the No. 5 seed at this weekend's Southland Conference Tournament, which begins Thursday and runs through Saturday at Beakat Softball Complex in Huntsville. The Roadrunners (27-25, 17-13 SLC) will face fourth-seeded McNeese State (29-27, 18-12 SLC) in the opening contest of the three-day event at 11 a.m.
The Roadrunners, who now have qualified for seven of the last eight tournaments, have improved their overall record by four games this spring under interim head coach Stephanie Hughes.
The tournament features the league's top six finishers in a double-elimination format. The winner of Thursday's opener will move on to face No. 1 seed Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (38-17, 21-9 SLC) at 4 p.m. on Thursday, while the loser will play at 1:30 p.m. on Friday.
All tournament games will be shown on SLC Now and Saturday's championship contest is slated for 2 p.m. and will be televised by the Southland Television Network (check local listings).
