SAN ANTONIO - The UTSA softball team participated in a Navy SEAL Fitness Challenge last Saturday at Northside I.S.D.'s Hardin Athletic Complex. Third-year head coach Lori Cook, assistant coaches Stephanie Hughes and Michelle Cheatham and the student-athletes all took to the course to see what it takes to be a Navy SEAL in one of four challenges offered nationwide this year.
The softball team used the challenge as a team-building exercise following a successful fall season. To read more about the event in an article that appeared in the San Antonio Express-News last week, click here.
The Navy SEAL Fitness Challenge is a series of physical fitness events challenging athletes to maximize their performance in individual tests of strength and endurance. It closely mirrors the initial physical screening test given to anyone who desires to become a SEAL. The event consists of swimming, push ups, sit ups, pull-ups and running.
