PLANO, Texas – UTSA sophomore Amanda Nikolenko has been named Aeropostale/Southland Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week for the fourth time this season, the league office announced Monday.
Nikolenko continued her impressive sophomore campaign last week, posting three victories, a save and a 0.65 ERA to help UTSA go 5-0 and extend its winning streak to 13 games. In game two of a doubleheader at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi last Wednesday, she tossed six scoreless innings, striking out four and walking one in a 3-1 victory. The sophomore entered game one of the Louisiana-Monroe series with the tying run on second in the top of the sixth inning and shut the door on the ULM rally en route to her first save of the year and an 8-4 win. She tossed a pair of complete games in the other two weekend contests, 7-2 and 4-1 victories, striking out a combined 17 batters to run her record to 18-5 overall and 12-2 in the SLC.
UTSA now has garnered 10 weekly accolades this season.
Northwestern State’s Amanda Glenn earned weekly hitting honors.
