MONROE - The Louisiana Monroe women's tennis team defeated
UTSA women's tennis team, 5-2, today to improve to 6-3 overall and remain undefeated at 3-0 in SLC action.
The Roadrunners suffered their first loss in SLC play (2-1) and dropped to 5-4 overall.
Sharon and Daliny had great matches for us today,? said ULM head coach Jill
Breslin. We continue to improve with each match which is great as we head on
the road for conference play.
UTSA took the doubles point to with wins at No. 1 and 2. But the Lady Indians dominated singles play for the win.
Sophomore Pauline Bourdet got ULM on track with a win at No. 4 singles over Monika Drabkova, 6-4, 6-1. Senior Diana Espinal won her eighth No. 1 singles match of the spring over Nathalie Wallin, 6-3, 6-4 to give ULM a 2-1 lead.
Freshman Sharon Makhanya gave ULM a 3-1 lead with the win at No. 6 singles over Ana Paula Soto Anton, 6-4, 6-2.
Sophomore transfer Giovanna Arrondo won the deciding team point at No. 5 singles with a win over Tanya Hasking, 6-4, 6-2. Senior Daliny Sithimorada wrapped up the win with a three-set win at No. 4 over Karen Scida, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4.
