SAN ANTONIO - UTSA will look to go to 3-0 on the young season when they travel to Iowa City, Iowa, to face the No. 18 ranked Iowa Hawkeyes on Saturday. Tip is set for 12:05 p.m. at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

Note: Even though this is the first-ever meeting between the two schools, UTSA has played at Carver-Hawkeye Arena before. The Roadrunners competed at the 1990 Iowa Hawkeye Classic, losing to Creighton (93-47) in the first round, before rebounding to score a 99-59 victory over Colgate in the consolation game.

Behind Eric Young's 18 points, six rebounds and five assists, the Roadrunners defeated the Cameron Aggies 73-56 on Nov. 23 in San Antonio.

Coach Carter:
Tim Carter is in his 11th season at UTSA and has a career record of 151-135 (.528) with the Roadrunners and 162-151 (.520) overall . . . He is the winningest men's basketball coach in UTSA history and has the longest tenure . . . He scored his 100th career win on Dec. 1, 2001 over Illinois State and his 100th win at UTSA on Feb. 4, 2002 at Texas-Arlington . . . Carter was named the 1999 SLC "Coach of the Year" . . . He came to UTSA after one season at Nebraska-Omaha. He has served as an assistant coach at Oklahoma (1984), Midwestern State (1984-86), Houston (1986-87), Oklahoma State (1987-90) and Northwestern (1990-94) . . . He has led UTSA to the NCAA Tournament in 1999 and 2004. Carter is 2-1 in games coached against Angelo State.
Home Sweet Home:
Tough to beat in the UTSA Convocation Center, the Roadrunners have an all-time home record of 221-90 (.723) in the Bird Cage. UTSA is 1-1 all-time as a home team at the Alamodome. UTSA will play six of its first seven games at home this season.
Quick Starts:
The Roadrunners have never won four straight games to start a season. UTSA's best start to a season ever was 3-0 in 2004-05, 1999-00 and in 1989-90.

UTSA's lone win over a nationally ranked opponent came on Dec. 18, 1994 when the Roadrunners scored an 87-85 overtime win over No. 12 Arizona State in Tempe, Ariz.

UTSA enters the 2005-06 season with a reputation as a team that is tough to beat in overtime. The Roadrunners were 1-0 last season and 13-7 all-time in extra sessions under coach Tim Carter. UTSA won 10 of the last 11 overtime games.
369 and Counting:
The UTSA men's basketball program now has 369 wins. The Roadrunners have averaged 15.3 wins a season as a program over the first 24 years, and are the winningest program in the SLC over the past 10 years.
Injury Report:
Junior center Dwain Hall (right shoulder) and sophomore guard James Peters (left foot) will both miss the Iowa game with injuries. Freshman forward Jon Flansburg will not be eligible to play until mid-term after transferring.

Williams is a 6-2 freshman guard from Kerrville (Texas) Tivy High School.

According to the latest Sagarin College Basketball Rankings, UTSA is currently ranked No. 232 overall out of 330 NCAA Division I schools.
Captains Named For 2005-06:
Senior Andre Owens and junior Kurt Attaway have been named team captains for the 2005-06 season. Owens is UTSA's leading returning scorer at 11.2 points per game, while Attaway is a two-year letterman who earned Southland Conference Freshman of the Year honors in 2004.

Youth Is Served:
UTSA features a young roster this season with eight players that are either freshmen or sophomores. The Roadrunners started two freshmen (Eric Young and Nkem Ojougboh) in the first two games with Angelo State and Cameron. Young led UTSA with 18 points in the win over the Aggies.
Quick Starts:
UTSA has started the first two games in fine fashion and has led by an average of nine points at intermission. The Roadrunners have out-scored the opposition 77-59 over the first 20 minutes.
Andre The Giant:
Big things are expected this season out of UTSA senior guard Andre Owens. He delivered in a big way in the exhibition opener with 34 points on 14-of-17 shooting, while also grabbing nine rebounds. He opened the regular season by leading UTSA with 18 points, eight assists and seven rebounds. The eight assists were a new career-high for Owens, who is a preseason second team All-Southland Conference selection. He added 16 points in the win over Cameron.
Kurt's Point:
Point guard Kurt Attaway also excels in the classroom where he is the reigning Southland Conference Student-Athlete of the Year for men's basketball. A member of the Dean's List at UTSA, Attaway currently maintains a perfect 4.0 grade point average while majoring in psychology.
Off The Pine:
Led by Gabe Bernard's 13 points, UTSA's bench produced 36 points in the win over Angelo State. The bench brigade of Bernard, Kyile Byrd, Aldric Reynolds, Chris Thompson and Abe Donlon connected on 14 of 20 shots (70.0%) of its shots from the field. Over the first two games, UTSA has averaged 26.5 points per game of production from its second six.
What's Next:
UTSA returns home to host a four-game homestand beginning with a visit by the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders on Wednesday, Nov. 30 at 7 p.m. Visits will follow by Murray State (Dec. 3), Texas-Pan American (Dec. 6) and Jackson State (Dec. 11).
