AS A SOPHOMORE Following the season he was named the Southland Conference Student-Athlete of the Year for men's basketball • Missed nine games due to injury, averaging 3.8 points in 20.0 minutes of playing time per game • Did not play in the season-opener against Texas-Tyler on Nov. 21 because of a sprained ankle • Came off the bench to score seven points in win over Texas Lutheran • Started and had four points, six assists, five steals and three rebounds in the win over Texas A&M International • Had nine points, six rebounds and five assists in loss at Murray State • Had seven points in loss at Louisiana Tech • Tore a ligament in his right thumb diving for a loose ball in the home win over Louisiana Tech on Dec. 12. HIGH SCHOOL A three-year starter and letterman at Flower Mound (Texas) Marcus High School • As a senior he averaged 10.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 4.0 steals per game in leading the Marauders to a 18-13 record • After his senior year he was named team Most Valuable Player, All-District 7-5A, all-region and was a nominee for the McDonald's All-American Team • Earned Marauder Classic All-Tournament honors • As a senior he helped lead Marcus to a bi-district championship • A member of the National Honor Society, he won the Business Department Award and was a National Merit Award semifinalist • Graduated seventh out of a class of 608.
PERSONAL Full name is Kurt Davis Attaway • Born March 17, 1985, in Houston, Texas • Son of Bob and Linda Attaway • A strong leaper, he has been measured with a 34.5-inch vertical jump • Majoring in psychology with hopes of becoming a sports psychologist after graduation • A member of the UTSA Dean's List throughout his college career, he has been named UTSA's Male Student-Athlete of the Year in 2003-04 and 2004-05 • Member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes • Has two brothers, Rob and Matt.
