SAN ANTONIO - UTSA women’s golf head coach Holly Tothe announced Tuesday the signing of Shelly Martinez (Pecos, Texas/Pecos HS), Kayla McBride (Sonora, Texas/Sonora HS) and Madison McClain (Missouri City, Texas/Elkins HS) to National Letters of Intent. The trio will join the Roadrunners on campus for the 2006-07 season.
Martinez finished third at the 2005 Texas 3A state golf tournament last May, while McBride was sixth at the 2005 Texas 2A state tournament. McClain was the District 20-5A runner-up last spring and a regional qualifier.
“It was very important to the development of our new program to sign these three athletes in the early signing period,” Tothe said. “Our signees will be an important addition in the fall of 2006 and a great contribution in building a deeper team.”
