THIBODAUX, La.- The UTSA women's tennis team improved to 2-1 in the Southland Conference after scoring a 7-0 win over the Nicholls State Lady Colonels at the Nicholls Tennis Courts on Sunday morning.
With the win, the Roadrunners improved to 3-8 overall, while Nicholls moved to 1-8 overall and 0-4 in SLC play.
UTSA won the match in convincing fashion, sweeping through the singles competition with all players scoring straight set victories. Nadezda Rossikhina opened the match at No. 1 with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Dorian Robichaux; Massiel Martinez won at No. 2 with a 6-3, 6-0 triumph over Jen Rodriguez; Barbara Mooney scored a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 3 over Monique Savoy; Tanya Hasking won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 4 over Jordan Vaccarella; Ana Paula Soto Anton won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5 over Cheri White; while Rachael Hansen won via default due to injury against Shamra Gray at No. 6.
The Roadrunners will return to action on Sunday, March 20 with a home match against Stephen F. Austin that will begin at 11 a.m. at the UTSA Tennis Center.
