SAN ANTONIO - Fresh off an impressive road victory at Texas-Arlington on Wednesday, the UTSA men's basketball team returns home to host I-35 rival Texas State on Saturday, Feb. 12. Tip is set for 4 p.m. at the Convocation Center.

Series History:
UTSA owns a 25-13 lead in the all-time series and has won the last two meetings. The Bobcats, who are 8-12 in games played at the Convocation Center, prevailed last regular season in San Antonio by a 74-73 count.

UTSA broke a three-game losing streak with an impressive 79-72 over Texas-Arlington at Texas Hall in Arlington. Rapheal Posey came off the bench to score 24 points, while Justin Harbert added 16 points. The Roadrunners shot 51.6% from the field and outrebounded the Mavericks 41-28.

Coach Carter:
Tim Carter is in his 10th season at UTSA and has a career record of 144-132 (.523) with the Roadrunners and 155-148 (.512) overall . . . He is the winningest men's basketball coach in UTSA history and has the longest tenure . . . He scored his 100th career win on Dec. 1, 2001 over Illinois State and his 100th win at UTSA on Feb. 4, 2002 at Texas-Arlington . . . Carter was named the 1999 SLC "Coach of the Year" . . . He came to UTSA after one season at Nebraska-Omaha. He has served as an assistant coach at Oklahoma (1984), Midwestern State (1984-86), Houston (1986-87), Oklahoma State (1987-90) and Northwestern (1990-94) . . . He has led UTSA to the NCAA Tournament in 1999 and 2004.

The Matchup:
This will be the 39th matchup between UTSA and Texas State. The Roadrunners own a 25-13 lead in the all-time series and won the final two meetings last season, 69-66 in San Marcos, and 78-73 in the first round of the SLC Tournament in San Antonio. Texas State, which is 8-12 in games played in the Convocation Center, won its regular season appearnace in San Antonio by a 74-73 count. In the three games last season, UTSA's Rapheal Posey averaged 21.7 points per game against the Bobcats.

UTSA enters the 2004-05 season with a reputation as a team that is tough to beat in overtime. The Roadrunners are 1-0 this season and 13-7 all-time in extra sessions under coach Tim Carter. UTSA won 10 of the last 11 overtime games.

UTSA has been a beast on the boards through 20 games this season, and have been outrebounded by only five opponents -- Texas, Northwestern State (twice), Texas-Pan American and Lamar. The Roadrunners average 42.0 rebounds per game to only 37.6 for their opponents. UTSA leads the Southland Conference in rebounding offense (42.0 per game).

Freshman Roderick Rodgers is sidelined with a left foot injury and will not play against Texas State.

Pass The Millsap:
Senior forward John Millsap currently leads the team in scoring (13.7 ppg) and rebounding (7.2 rpg). In SLC play his numbers are even bigger at 14.6 points and 7.6 rebounds per outing. He is the only Roadrunners player to start all 20 games this season.

Super Sub:
Senior guard Rapheal Posey continues to be a spark off of the bench for UTSA, averaging 12.9 points per game in conference play, all in a reserve role.

Sign 'Em Up:
In the fall, UTSA announced that four players had signed national letters of intent to play for the Roadrunners next season. The signees include three incoming freshmen and a junior college transfer. Signing with UTSA are 6-6 forward Kyile Byrd from Lon Morris (Texas) Junior College; 6-1 guard Tim Maiden and 6-9 center Nkem Ojougboh from Scottsdale (Ariz.) Christian Academy; and 6-4 guard Eric Young from Eisenhower High School in Houston, Texas.

Up Next:
UTSA will hit the road for a two-game trip to Southeastern Louisiana (Feb. 17) and Nicholls State (Feb. 19). The Thursday game with the Lions will tipoff at 7:45 p.m.
