SAN ANTONIO — Senior Elise Huskey hit a career-best .647 on the strength of a match-high 11 kills, redshirt junior Kelsey Schwirtlich registered her fourth double-double of the year and UTSA swept Texas A&M-Corpus Christi by scores of 25-11, 25-17 and 25-13 on Wednesday at the Convocation Center. The Roadrunners (15-8, 9-0 SLC) set a Southland Conference record with its ninth consecutive sweep in league matches (previous: 8, UT Arlington, 1988-89).

Huskey recorded 17 errorless swings on the night, while Schwirtlich dished out 32 assists and recorded 10 digs. Meanwhile, senior Kelsey Jewasko collected a match-leading 16 digs, as UTSA limited the Islanders (11-15, 3-6 SLC) to a negative .010 hitting percentage.

The Birds raced out to a 6-1 advantage in the opening set behind a trio of kills. After Texas A&M-Corpus Christi battled back to within one point (8-7), Schwirtlich fueled a 17-4 run with seven assists to close out the frame.

UTSA spread around the attacks in the second panel, as Huskey, junior Brittney Malloy and sophomore McKenzie Adams each racked up three winners.

After the Islanders took a 6-5 lead, Huskey's fourth kill of the match tied the stanza. The two teams then split the next six points before junior Whitney Walls gave the Birds the lead for good with a cross-court winner.

Huskey put the Roadrunners on top 6-5 in the final set after slamming home a kill and UTSA never looked back and cruised to yet another sweep.

Micah Nolan had 11 digs for A&M-Corpus Christi.

UTSA concludes its current four-match home stand on Saturday when it hosts Lamar (7-17, 5-4 SLC) at 2 p.m.
