SAN DIEGO, Calif. — UTSA opened its outdoor campign with eight top-three finishes at this weekend's weather-shortened Aztec Invitational.
Leading the way was sophomore Jhorden Hunter, who placed second (12.08) in the 100 meters on Friday in addition to running the third leg of the Roadrunners' third-place 400m relay team that clocked a 47.04 the next day.
Sophomore Laura Oseghae and freshman Adrienne Mosby registered UTSA's other silver medals. Oseghae recorded a personal-best leap of 19-2 ½ (5.85m) in the long jump, while Mosby crossed the tape in 14.51 in the 100m hurdles, both of which came on Friday.
Other top-three finishers included juniors Zaquita McClanahan (45-1 ¾/13.76m in shot put) and Chanele Smith (5-7/1.70m in high jump), sophmore Greneshia Wright (18-10 ¾/5.76m in long jump) and freshman Chiugo Okonkwo (12.11 in 100m).
The meet was cancelled midway through Saturday's action due to inclement weather.
The Roadrunners will be back in action next weekend at the Victor Lopez Classic. The two-day meet begins on Friday, March 23, in Houston.
