AUSTIN — Sophomore Keyunta Hayes matched UTSA's program record in the 110-meter hurdles and also was victorious in the 400m hurdles to highlight the Roadrunners' full day of action at Saturday's Texas Invitational.

Hayes, the 2011 Southland Conference Outdoor Freshman of the Year, peeled off a wind-aided 13.81 en route to a second-place finish in his specialty event. The Tyler native, who now stands in a 14th-place tie on the national leaderboard, finished just one tick back of Texas Southern's Sheldon Wilkinson and his time matched the school mark established by Will Vese in 2008. He later won the 400m hurdles in 52.14.

Meanwhile, junior Phil Steinert easily won the hammer throw with a season-best toss of 196-2 (59.79m), which was just one inch shy of the program mark he set last season. The Round Rock native was victorious by nearly 10 feet and he now holds a five-foot lead in the Southland standings.

UTSA's other winner of the day came in the 1,500m when senior Cole Reveal clocked a 3:59.63 to top the 28-man field.

Junior Richard Garrett Jr. posted a runner-up finish in the shot put with a season-long measurement of 59-11 (18.26m), a mark that ranks 19th nationally this season. It was only an inch-and-a-half shy of the school record he established at last year's NCAA Championships Preliminary Rounds and it extended his league lead to more than five feet.

The Roadrunners' other top three finishers at the meet included junior Tyler Williamson in the long jump (wind-aided 24-7 ¼/7.50m) and freshman Christopher Hall in the 400m (top collegian with PR of 47.77),

UTSA will be back in action at two meets next weekend. The distance runners will head to the West Coast for the Mt. SAC Relays, while the rest of the squad will return to Austin for the Longhorn Invitational.
