“We have worked very hard to make our football team be an integral part of our city,” Athletics Director Lynn Hickey said. “We are a majority minority campus and by teaming up with the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, we will be able to celebrate the long-standing culture and rich traditions of San Antonio's Hispanic heritage. This event also will give us a great opportunity to reach out to all of South Texas.”
The Roadrunners, who will begin their second season of play on Thursday, Aug. 30, at South Alabama, are coming off a 4-6 campaign that saw them establish NCAA startup program records for inaugural game (56,743) and average home (35,521) attendance.
