NORMAN, Okla. — Junior Eboni Johnson and sophomore Nina Herrera both earned all-league honors on Saturday to highight the UTSA women's track & field team's final day of action at the Southland Conference Indoor Championships.
Johnson skipped to a third-place finish in triple jump with a season-best measurement of 39-10 ¾ (12.16m).
Meanwhile, Herrera was third in mile (5:04.69), as the Roadrunners scored a combined eight points in the event. Sophomore Isabel Balbontin placed seventh in 5:08.35.
The Roadrunners placed fourth in the team standings with 71 points and Stephen F. Austin won its fourth consecutive team crown with 117.5.
UTSA also received a pair of fifth-place performances from sophomore Alyssa Diaz in 3,000 meters (PR 10:04.65/No. 3 UTSA history) and freshman Adrienne Mosby in the 60m hurdles (8.84).
The Birds scored four points in the 60m when sophomores Jhorden Hunter (7.57) and Krystal Wynn (7.69) crossed the finish line sixth and eighth, respectively.
Three other athletes and UTSA's 1,600m relay also recorded points during the final day of competition.
Sophomore Grace Williamson placed sixth in 800m (2:16.91), while fellow soph Madeline Hurdt (45-11 ¾/14.01m) and junior Zaquita McClanahan (45-8 ½/13.93m) were seventh and eighth in the shot put, respectively.
The team's other tally came in the meet's final event, the 1,600m relay. Junior Briony Miller, freshman Kaila James, Williamson and freshman Dernisha Harris circled the oval eight times in a season-best 3:58.28.
UTSA will open the outdoor season in three weeks at the Aztec Invitational in San Diego. The three-day meet gets underway on Thursday, March 15.
