To become eligible for election to the Hall of Fame, the individual person must satisfy all criteria listed below.
Athletes must have earned and been granted a baccalaureate, professional or graduate degree by UTSA; and have earned one or more letters in a varsity sport at UTSA; and have gained national distinction through superlative performance as an athlete at the conference, regional, national, or international level; and have established a personal reputation for character and citizenship which reflects favorably upon the University.
Coaches/Athletic Administrators must have earned and been granted a baccalaureate, professional or graduate degree by UTSA or by some other regionally accredited institution of higher learning; and have made significant contributions to UTSA Athletics, culminating in a profound impact to the University; and be presently or prior employed at UTSA for a period of least 730 consecutive days in a capacity other than that of an athlete (i.e., coach, trainer, etc.); and have gained national distinction through exceptional accomplishments in support of athletics; and have established a personal reputation for character and citizenship which reflects favorably upon the University.
No athlete may be nominated for the recognition until five years or more have elapsed since their final year of eligibility.
No coach/administrator may be nominated for the recognition until five years or more have lapsed since retiring from his or her profession.
Any exceptions to the above criteria for eligibility to the Hall of Fame must be approved by 80% vote of the Election Board and approved by the Director of Athletics.
The UTSA Athletics Hall of Fame Selection Committee is made up of designees from the UTSA Alumni Association Board, Letterwinners Club, Roadrunner Foundation and Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, as well as representatives from the university and athletics department along with local print and electronic media.
