Santiago Lobelo is in his first season at UTSA as a graduate assistant coach.

Lobelo comes to the Alamo City after spending the 2015-16 campaign as a volunteer assistant at Arizona.

That came on the heels of a one-year stint as a student assistant coach at his alma mater, Bethune-Cookman, during the 2014-15 season. He helped lead the women's program to the 2015 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Championship and its third NCAA Tournament berth in program history. On the men's side, he helped guide the Wildcats to a second-place league finish.

In addition to his work as a collegiate assistant coach, Lobelo also has served as a coach at the prestigious Event Tennis Academy and Rick Macci Tennis Academy.

Lobelo played for four years at Bethune-Cookman, serving as a team captain his final two seasons. He earned 2012 first-team All-MEAC accolades as a sophomore and was a second-team selection the following spring.

The Bogota, Columbia, native graduated from Bethune-Cookman in 2015 with degrees in both business administration and international finance.
