Sam Hinojosa (MS, LAT, ATC) joined the UTSA Sports Medicine Staff in the Summer of 2021 and works with the football program as the Senior Assistant Athletic Trainer. In his first year with the program, he worked with both the football and men’s tennis programs.

 

A native from La Feria, Texas in the Rio Grande Valley, Hinojosa attended Texas State and graduated in 2018 with a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training. He then went on to attend South Carolina and graduated with a Master of Science in the Post-Professional Advanced Athletic Training.

 

While completing his coursework as a Gamecock, he provided athletic training services for the football team and served as the Head Athletic Trainer at AC Flora High School in Columbia, South Carolina. He also served as a teaching assistant in the undergraduate Athletic Training Educational Program for the General Medicine Course.

 

Following graduate school, Hinojosa returned to Texas and served as the Head Athletic Trainer at Bay City High School in Bay City, Texas from 2020-21. He had the opportunity to serve on the Finish Line Sweep Team at the 123rd Boston Marathon in 2019 and The Austin Spring League in 2018. He was also awarded Preceptor of the Year at USC in 2020 and UTSA in 2022. Hinojosa is certified in Graston Technique M-1 Basic and Personalized Blood Flow Restriction Rehabilitation.

 

In his free time, Sam enjoys boxing, playing guitar, making playlists, grilling, and cooking and playing Call of Duty with his brother, Vince. His favorite superheroes are his father, Ben Hinojosa, and Wolverine.
