Peter Mulamba was annouced by UTSA head soccer coach Derek Pittman as an assistant coach for the Roadrunners on August 9, 2023 joining the UTSA staff following five years as the head coach at Alamo City Soccer Club of the United Premier Soccer League (UPSL).
Leading Alamo City men's semi-professional team for seven split-calendar seasons, Mulamba racked up a 53-11-11 record as head coach – a 78 percent winning percentage. Alamo City was ranked No. 8 in the UPSL in 2023 and won their fifth Central Conference Texas South Division Championship under his leadership this Summer – making their seventh playoff appearance and fourth trip to the national round of 32. While coaching ACSC, he worked with several players who were promoted to full professional contracts, including Mikey Maldonado (North Carolina FC), Vincent Floria (Granada Club de Fútbol), Habib Balarabe (Alicante CF) and John-Michael Villareal (Alicante CF). While playing, he also served as the club's Director of Recruiting.
Continually working to develop new players since his playing days, Mulamba has also been coaching with the Players Academy of Soccer Skills (P.A.S.S.) private soccer training since 2018, and his family has operated FalseNin9 Soccer Development out of Austin and San Antonio since 2020, providing technical training to players of all levels.
His playing career began at Brescia University in Kentucky, where he was the team's Freshman of the Year as well as Newcomer of the Year, and later transferring to NCAA Division I UT Rio Grande Valley. Unfortunately, an injury ended his collegiate career just five games into his time with the Vaqueros, prompting him to transfer to UTSA where he earned his degree in Kinesiology with an Athletic Medicine concentration.
Mulamba returned to action once more as a player before shifting his focus fully to coaching, playing semi-professionally for the San Antonio Runners Soccer Club and helping the squad to an 11-0-3 record, a Fall 2018 UPSL Central Conference Heart Division Championship and a Spring 2019 appearance in the 2019 Lamar Hunt US Open Cup. His soccer playing journey began as a prep star at Laredo St. Augustine Catholic, where was a three-time TAPPS All-State honoree named to the TAPPS All-Tournament Team after leading his team to the first final four in school history during his senior year.
