A former UTSA player, Peter Gray is in his third season as a member of the UTSA coaching staff and first as the program’s assistant offensive line coach. He previously served as a graduate assistant for the offense during the 2023 and 2024 seasons.
During Gray’s time on the staff, UTSA has won a combined 27 games and made three consecutive bowl games, coming out victorious in each of the last two.
Gray was a former defensive lineman and tight end for the Roadrunners from 2018 to 2022. He registered three total tackles in three games as a true freshman. A member of the Conference USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll multiple times, he made three stops and blocked an extra-point attempt in eight contests during the 2020 season before moving to tight end for the following season.
Gray was a former prep standout at Tupelo High School in Mississippi and at Friendswood High School near Houston. He earned first-team Class 6A All-State honors and All-Region 1-6A laurels at defensive end after posting 56 tackles, 39 solo stops, one sack and four interceptions to help lead Tupelo to an 11-1 record in 2017. He was a first-team all-state honoree at outside linebacker as a junior after tallying 87 tackles, five sacks and three picks. As a sophomore at Friendswood, he collected second-team All-District 24-6A honors at defensive end.
