Lisa Bao joined UTSA’s Sports Medicine Staff in June 2019 and works with the football and softball programs as a Resident Athletic Trainer.

Bao is a native of Vancouver, British Columbia, and graduated from California State University Northridge in 2017 with her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology: Sports Studies.

In 2019, she graduated from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center with a  Master of Athletic Training. While completing coursework, Bao provided athletic training services to the Red Raider football program and worked at Coronado High School.

During this time, she also completed an athletic training student internship at Rice (2018) and San Diego State (2019). Bao gained NFL experience by working as a summer intern for the Minnesota Vikings in 2018.

Bao has also worked as a volunteer athletic trainer covering the IRONMAN 70.3 Buffalo Springs Lake Triathlon and volunteered at the West Texas Sports Medicine Symposium.

She is certified in Graston Technique M-1 Basic, Personalized Blood Flow Restriction Rehabilitation and Sports and Orthopedic Regenerative Dry Needling Level 1.  

In her free time, Bao likes to watch the Seahawks win, play the piano, collect plants and go hiking/camping. She says her favorite superheroes are her mom and pops.
