John Senter Jr. was named UTSA's Senior Associate Athletics Director for Internal Operations in November 2025.
In his role, Senter provides leadership to UTSA Athletics’ business and financial operations as the department’s Chief Financial Officer, including budgeting and resource management. He also oversees the athletics equipment and facilities units.
Senter joins UTSA from the University of Pittsburgh, where he served as Assistant Athletics Director, Business & Finance and managed the day-to-day operations of the business office since August 2022.
Prior to joining the staff at Pitt, Senter spent nearly two years at VCU as Assistant Athletics Director for Business Services. While at VCU, he facilitated the adoption of a new travel service, administered a new payment process for game officials, implemented an electronic per diem program for all its 17 sports and assisted with the day-to-day operations of the business office.
Senter has also served as Director of Business Operations at Providence (2019-21) and as a Sales Representative for Kraft Heinz (2018) and adidas (2017).
Senter holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Akron, where he was a four-year football letterwinner and helped the Zips achieve their first bowl win in program history at the 2015 Famous Idaho Potato Bowl. He earned a master’s degree in sports administration, also from Akron, where he worked as a graduate assistant in the athletics business office.
Senter is a native of Dayton, Ohio.
