Jim Campbell was named UTSA Senior Associate Athletics Director for Compliance on Aug. 5, 2024.
Campbell came to San Antonio from the University of San Francisco, where he served as the Dons’ Senior Associate Athletics Director for Internal Operations for the past two years. He was responsible for the overall leadership and oversight of Compliance, Student Services and Academic Success, and he also served as the department’s liaison to the West Coast Conference for student-athlete support matters.
Campbell was a member of San Francisco’s department for a total of six years. Prior to his tenure as Senior Associate AD, he was the Associate AD for Compliance and Student Services from 2018 to 2022 after joining the Dons as Compliance & Student Services Coordinator in May 2018.
Before moving to San Francisco, Campbell served as Coppin State’s Compliance Coordinator and Academic Advisor for 16 months.
Campbell got his start working in intercollegiate athletics in 2015 as graduate assistant in the Alabama Athletics Compliance Office. He then was a group sales manager for the Columbus Cottonmouths of the Southern Professional Hockey League in 2016 before his stint at Coppin State.
A native of Prattville, Alabama, Campbell earned his bachelor’s degree in human performance and exercise physiology in 2014 and his master’s degree in sports management in 2015, both from Alabama.
He and his wife, Makenzie, a San Antonio native, have a daughter, Carter.
