In August of 2026, Head UTSA Softball Coach Vann Stuedeman officially announced the addition of Jeff Edwards, who joins the staff as an assistant coach.

Edwards holds decades of experience working in and around Major League Baseball and spent the past year as a scouting consultant for the Future Stars Series, a premier amateur baseball showcase. Additionally, he has worked as a consultant and independent hitting instructor in San Antonio since 2024.

Edwards was a mainstay in the Colorado Rockies organization, with stints from 2000-06 and 2009-2023. There, he served as a regional scout in the Texas and Louisiana regions. In addition to evaluating prospects and front office work, Edwards was an instructional league coach working directly with top prospects to accelerate player development and refine fundamental skills.

Across 2006-09, Edwards was the Midwest scouting supervisor for the New York Mets, covering Texas to Minnesota along with Canada, the Dominican Republic and Latin America.

Edwards was an assistant baseball coach, recruiting coordinator and camp director at his alma mater Liberty from 1996-2000. With the Flames, he won the 1997 and 1999 Big South Championship and advanced to an NCAA Regional twice.

In 1998, he was an assistant coach with the Stanton Braves in the Valley Collegiate Baseball League, and he also has experience as a high school head baseball coach, a quarterbacks coach, and as a defensive coordinator. Over the years, he assisted with various baseball camps, including Clemson and Virginia.

Edwards played collegiate baseball at Liberty and was twice drafted by the Montreal Expos. He graduated from Liberty in 1986 and is a member of the Texas Scouts Association, the Southeast Scouts Association and the American Baseball Coaches Association.
