Jaycie Staples will enter her first season as Sports Performance Coach for UTSA women’s basketball after arriving ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.
She holds CSCS and USAW L-1 certifications and made her way to San Antonio after spending the 2025-26 academic year as a graduate assistant at Catawba. There, she designed and implemented specific training programs for men’s and women’s swimming, men’s volleyball, track and field, women’s soccer and spirit teams, while assisting with football, men’s and women’s lacrosse, women’s soccer and women’s basketball.
Previously, she served as a strength and conditioning intern from 2023-25 at Kansas State, where she worked with both men’s and women’s basketball as well as several Olympic sports, and served as a football strength and conditioning coach at Emporia State in the Summer of 2024. Additionally, she served as an active-duty Army officer from 2021-23.She was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal and was a three-time Army Achievement Medal recipient.
Staples is currently pursuing a Master of Science in applied physiology and kinesiology from Florida, with an expected graduation of 2026. She holds a Bachelor of Science in kinesiology from Kansas State in December of 2024, and earned a Bachelor of Science in accounting from Christopher Newport University in May of 2021.
