Dr. Jaime Garza is a triple-board certified surgeon. He received his M.D. (with honors) and D.D.S. degrees from the LSU Health Sciences Center. Dr. Garza also has a B.A. in political science from Tulane. He is board-certified in two surgical specialties from the LSU Medical Center (head/neck surgery) and the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (plastic/reconstructive and maxillofacial surgery) and his national boards in dentistry. 

Dr. Garza is an internationally-known expert in the treatment of sports-related facial/head and neck injuries.

He has been a team physician for UTSA since 1996. Dr. Garza also has served as a team physician for the National Football League with the New Orleans Saints, a consultant to the National Basketball Association’s San Antonio Spurs, a team physician for the American Hockey League’s San Antonio Rampage and as tournament physician for several NCAA Final Fours, the USA Olympic Women’s basketball team and the USA Olympic Trials. 

He has authored several book chapters and dozens of medical journal articles and abstracts and holds a patent on a protective facemask used by professional and college players.

Dr. Garza currently serves as clinical professor of surgery and otolaryngology and assistant vice president for South Texas Community Affairs for the UTHSCSA.

He was an acclaimed All-City football receiver at San Antonio’s Jefferson High School and was a four-year letterman at Tulane, where he has been inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame.
  
He and his wife of 28 years, architect Lisa Marie Trail Garza of New Orleans, have four children.
