A former collegiate linebacker, Dayven Coleman is in his first season as a graduate assistant for the UTSA defense.
Coleman came to San Antonio from Sacramento State, where he was an analyst and assistant linebackers coach for the Hornets during the 2025 season.
Coleman was on the staff at Valparaiso as nickelbacks coach in 2024 after serving as a defensive line assistant at UNLV during the spring of 2024.
Prior to that, Coleman spent the 2023 season at Austin Peay as a graduate assistant who worked with the linebackers, as well as transfer portal coordinator. He also spent time at SMU as a recruiting assistant in the spring of 2023.
Coleman played linebacker and safety at Arizona in 2018 and 2019, tallying 21 total tackles, 13 unassisted stops and a pair of tackles for loss in 16 games. He then transferred to SFA, where he racked up 35 stops, 2.5 TFLs, one sack and four pass breakups in 2020.
The Dallas native was a standout defender at West Mesquite High School near Dallas. He played linebacker and safety and was a first-team all-district performer as a senior after posting 41 tackles and one interception.
Coleman earned his bachelor’s degree in human sciences/human development and family from Stephen F. Austin.
