Cody Bays is the associate athletics communications director at UTSA. He serves as the primary communications contact for men’s basketball, track & field/cross country and as the secondary football contact.

Bays came to UTSA from Texas State where he spent the 2016-17 academic year as an assistant director of sports information. At Texas State, he severed as the primary SID contact for softball, women’s basketball, women’s golf and was the secondary for football. During his time, he promoted nine all-conference award winners and a softball All-American.

Prior to Texas State, Bays spent six years (2010-2016) in the athletics media relations office at Coastal Carolina University, where he served as the SID for men's soccer, men's basketball and women's golf teams that advanced to multiple postseason tournaments. During that span, he promoted numerous players for national, regional and conference awards. In addition, he served as the secondary baseball contact during Coastal Carolina 2016 NCAA College World Series National Championship season. Bays also twice led the redesign of CCU's athletic website.

Bays started his collegiate sports information career as a student assistant in sports information at The University of Akron from 2008-2010.

Bays earned a bachelor's degree in business and organizational communication as well as business administration marketing from The University of Akron in 2009. He is originally from Bucyrus, Ohio.
