Angela Lawson joined UTSA Athletics in November of 2023 as the Stewardship Officer for athletics development. In this role, she stewards donors by running the hospitality clubs for football, men’s basketball and women’s basketball. She also coordinates signature events such as the UTSA Athletics Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, the Football Signing Day Celebration and the Coaches Circle.

Lawson brings more than years of experience working in college athletics. She has been an assistant women’s basketball coach at Texas State and Baylor. Lawson also served as the Head Women’s Basketball Coach at the University of the Incarnate Word for 13 seasons.  When UIW transitioned from NCAA Division II to NCAA Division I, Lawson moved into athletic administration as the Senior Associate Athletics Director for Academic Services. She served as the Senior Woman Administrator (SWA) for 22 years at UIW, as well.

Lawson earned a Bachelor of Science in Health and Physical Education with a minor in English from Louisiana Tech University. She played basketball at LA Tech and was a member of the 1988 NCAA National Championship team. Lawson then worked as a graduate assistant for the legendary Pat Summitt at the University of Tennessee where she was part of the 1991 National Championship team. She earned a Master of Science in Physical Education (Human Performance and Sports Studies) from Tennessee.
