Andrew Shibata (MA, LAT, ATC, RKC) joined the UTSA Sports Medicine staff in December 2018 and works primarily with the baseball program.

 

Shibata is a native of Encino, California, and graduated from California State University, Northridge (CSUN) in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training. He then went on to Fresno Pacific to complete in Master of Arts in Kinesiology in 2016.

 

While completing coursework, Shibata worked as an intern athletic trainer with women’s volleyball, wrestling and baseball at Cal Poly (San Luis Obispo). He is certified in Tecnica Gavilan Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization, Russian Kettlebell Instruction, RockTape Fascial Movement Taping, Personalized Blood Flow Restriction Rehabilitation as well as Sports and Orthopedic Regenerative Dry Needling Level 1.

 

In his free time, Shibata likes to do CrossFit, cook and spend time with his wife, Dr. Hye Young Lee – a professor at UT Health Science Center at San Antonio. Shibata says his favorite superhero is Cable.
