Former San Diego State standout Andrea Hannasch has joined the UTSA volleyball coaching staff this fall as a volunteer assistant coach. Hannasch primarily is responsible for mentoring the middle hitters.

The San Antonio native returns to the Alamo City after spending the last five years in California.

She attended San Diego State where she was a two-time honorable mention All-American. The three-time Mountain West Conference All-Academic honoree ranks second in the Aztecs' all-time record books with 471 block assists.  Hannasch was a three-time All-Mountain West Conference selection and named to the All-West Region team her final two seasons.

She graduated from New Braunfels High School where she was a three-year starter at middle hitter.

Hannasch received her bachelor’s degree in mathematics and physics from San Diego State in 2014 and currently is pursing a master’s degree in physics at UTSA.
