Junior (2014-15)
Appeared and started in all 31 contests for the Roadrunners … third on the team in scoring averaging 7.3 points per game … notched five double-doubles including the team’s first of the year at UT Arlington (Dec. 2) on 15 points and 11 rebounds … Elonu’s 15 points against UTA went down as a career-best for the Houston native … hit the game-winning free throws to defeat No. 24 Western Kentucky (Jan. 24) to snap its 14-game win streak and pick up the program’s first ever win over a ranked opponent … set a career-high in rebounds against Old Dominion (Feb. 12) and then matched it against Louisiana Tech (March 1) two weeks later … scored in double figures eight times … shot a team-best 52 percent (90-for-173) from the field and 63.4 percent (45-for-71) from the free throw line … led the team in rebounds with 225 (7.3 per game), which was best for eighth in Conference USA … in C-USA only games, shot 55.8 percent (58-for-104) from the field which ranked fourth and averaged a 7.7 rebounds (138) per outing (ninth) … named to the C-USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll.
Sophomore (2013-14)
Appeared in 29 contests, starting 16 … averaged 15.6 minutes per outing, while averaging 3.7 points and 3.8 rebounds per game … shot 51 percent from the field (38-75) and 71 percent (31-44) from the line … went 9-10 from the charity stripe against Northern Iowa (Nov. 29), setting a career-high … recorded double-digit points on three occasions, including a career-high 14 against Florida Atlantic (March 1) … fifth on the team in rebounds, tallying a career-best 12 against Marshall (March 5) … was two rebounds shy of a double-double against FAU with 14 points and eight boards … named to the Conference USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll.
Freshman (2012-13)
Appeared in 22 contests including the start in a win at UT Arlington (Jan. 10) … averaged 2.6 points, 3.1 rebounds and 9.1 minutes per game … shot 40.4 percent from the floor … saw action in 11 Western Athletic Conference games and averaged 1.7 points, 2.5 boards and 6.5 minutes per contest … led the team in rebounding four times … scored seven points and pulled down a season-high eight rebounds in her collegiate debut against Texas-Pan American (Nov. 9) … followed that performance up with a season-high 11 points and seven boards in a win against Concordia Texas (Nov. 12) … played a season-best 25 minutes at Wichita State (Nov. 18).
High School
Four-year letterwinner for head coach La’Shawn Johnson at Alief Elsik High School in Houston … averaged 20 points, 12.4 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 3.7 steals and 1.3 blocks per game as a senior … earned All-Class 5A honors from the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches (TABC) … also was selected to play in the TABC All-Star Game following her senior campaign … picked up another all-state nod as a junior … a TABC All-Region III selection and District 18-5A Most Valuable Player as a junior and senior … she helped lead the Rams to a 98-25 record, including a perfect 48-0 mark in district play, during her career … also helped the team to three area final fours, back-to-back area championships and a regional championship … four-year letterwinner with the volleyball and track & field programs … led the volleyball squad to a district title as a senior and was a two-time district MVP … graduated in the top 10 percent of her class and was an academic all-district pick … also won Alief Elsik’s President’s Award twice.

Full name is Akunna Elonu … daughter of Dozie and Amaka Elonu … youngest of five children … has two brothers, Chinemelu (played basketball at Texas A&M from 2006-09 and was drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers in 2009) and Chibuzo (played basketball at Richland College from 2007-09 and Souteastern Oklahoma State from 2009-11), and two sisters, Adaora (played basketball at Texas A&M from 2008-12) and Adaeze (middle blocker on the East Texas Baptist volleyball team) … has yet to declare a major.
