Two-time national champion Dominique Gonzalez-Tomlin, who spent the last two seasons at Michigan State, is in her first season as UTSA's assistant coach under Carol Price-Torok after spending three seasons on the staff of Laura Groff at UTSA.

"I am so excited to work with Dom," Carol Price-Torok said. "She is an amazing person. Her experience as a player and coach will be paramount to our program. I cannot wait for our players to develop under her. Her energy for the game shows every day in her ability to teach and develop players.

Gonzalez-Tomlin returns to the Alamo City after spending the last two seasons at Michigan State.

Prior to her time with the Spartans, Gonzalez-Tomlin spent three seasons with the Roadrunners where she was primarily responsible for the team defense and passing while working closely with the liberos and defensive specialists.

"I'd like to thank Dr. Lisa CamposChristine Moeller and head coach Carol Price-Torok for this opportunity to be back with the UTSA family," Gonzalez-Tomlin said. I'm looking forward to the chance to work alongside Carol who I had the pleasure to play for when I was going through the club volleyball system. Carol and I have known each other for quite a while and I feel our dynamic will allow our players to be challenged  to grow and maximize their fullest potential. "

"I'm thrilled to be back in the San Antonio community and contribute to the program's success as we start down a new path under the guidance of Price-Torok. It is an exciting time to be a part of UTSA Athletics and I look forward to adding in a positive matter to the department and program."

During her first tenure at UTSA, the Roadrunners won 16 matches and made their first-ever trip to the National Invitational Volleyball Championship (NIVC) in 2019.

In 2018, Gonzalez-Tomlin helped direct the Roadrunners to a 19-win season and a runner-up finish in Conference USA. She helped mentor libero Shelby Williams – in her first year as the everyday libero – to 4.22 digs per set to rank fifth in the league as UTSA averaged 15.86 digs per set in 2018, third-best in the conference.

Gonzalez-Tomlin's first year on staff saw the Roadrunners advance to the C-USA Championship for a fifth-consecutive year as UTSA went 9-5 in league play. Under her direction, the Roadrunner defense ranked fifth in the conference with 14.79 digs per set. Under her guidance, UTSA's primary libero, Emily Ramirez, posted 415 digs on the year,  good for eighth in the league.

The San Antonio native served as an assistant coach on the 2016 staff at Kent State, where she helped the Golden Flashes become one of the top defensive teams in The Mid-American Conference. Kent State registered the third-most digs in program history (2,017) and posted 16.67 digs per set, best for 35th in the nation and third in the MAC.

Before her coaching career began, Gonzalez-Tomlin was a three-time team captain for the two-time National Champion Penn State. She helped the Nittany Lions make four straight NCAA Tournament appearances in 2011-14 – including advancing to at least the national semifinal round three times – and captured back-to-back Big Ten championship titles in 2012 and '13.
