Dexter Molinaro is in his second year as the associate director of football performance in 2022 and his third year working with the Roadrunners. He began his UTSA career working with UTSA’s women’s basketball and soccer programs in 2020 before moving to work primarily with football in August of 2021.

In his first season with the football program, the Roadrunners enjoyed the best season in program history. UTSA went 12-2, including winning its first 11 games, won the Conference USA Championship, earned the first top-25 ranking in program history and advanced to the Frisco Bowl.

UTSA’s production in 2021 was buoyed by the effort of its student-athletes in strength and conditioning. The Roadrunners set a bevy of records in 2021, saw 23 players earn All-Conference USA accolades and had two players drafted in the 2022 NFL Draft.

Molinaro opened his UTSA career as the strength & conditioning coach with the women’s basketball and soccer programs from Jan. of 2020 to July of 2021. He helped prepare the UTSA soccer team for a historic 2021 season that saw the Roadrunners set a new program record for winning percentage, while going 10-5-4 on the year. The women’s basketball program advanced to the C-USA Championships, claiming a win over UTEP in the first round of the debut season for Coach Karen Aston.

Molinaro works directly with all aspects of football performance enhancement, including working with the director and senior associate director on daily player development, program design and implementation, training session logistics, GPS and VBT data analysis, facilities maintenance, and intern curriculum and development.

He works directly with UTSA’s sports medicine and coaching staff to implement the proper training plans for student-athletes.

In addition, Molinaro worked as the facilities and equipment maintenance coordinator for UTSA, overseeing the management of the equipment housed at the new $45 million Roadrunner Center for Athletics Excellence (RACE). He also serves as UTSA’s intern coordinator.

Prior to UTSA, Molinaro worked the 2019 season as the director of strength and conditioning for Carthage [Wis.] College, working directly with men’s and women’s volleyball, men’s and women’s lacrosse and men’s and women’s basketball teams. This came after two years as the staff athletic trainer at Carthage. While at Carthage, he saw his teams achieve great success, including advancing to the NCAA Final Four with women’s volleyball, a team that earned a No. 4 national ranking during the year, with the men’s volleyball team earning a No. 1 national ranking and a NCAA Sweet 16 appearance. The men’s basketball program had its best start since 2001, going 10-0 to open the regular-season.

He was the director of sports performance for the Kenosha Thunder Hockey organization from Aug. of 2018 to Jan. of 2020, working with elite-level hockey athletes ages 6-18.

Molinaro owns a bachelor’s of arts in sports medicine and a master’s of education with an emphasis in leadership and higher education.
