David Caramanidis was announced as a volunteer assistant coach for the UTSA men's tennis program on Oct. 24, 2022, continuing in the role into fall 2024. Spent the part of the 2024-25 season working in the same role with the women's program before assuming the assistant coach position with the men's team under head coach Sasha Gozun in spring 2025.
Caramanidis played collegiate tennis (both singles and doubles) for national runner-up Tyler Junior College from 1991-93. Caramanidis earned his associate degree in Recreation Leadership from Tyler in 1993 before earning his bachelor’s in recreation administration from Texas State in 1998.
He holds professional certifications as a USPTA Elite Coach, USTA Sport Science Coach, a Precision Nutritional Planner and as a Skogg Fitness Systems Coach.
Caramanidis has been a tennis director at multiple locations, including the Woodlands Athletic Club, with Schaumburg Tennis Plus (Schaumburg, Ill.), the River Plantation Country Club (Conroe, Texas), with 4Chambers Tennis and Fitness (Austin) and most recently with the Dominion Country Club here in San Antonio.
David and his wife Jenny have four children, Jonathan, Elizabeth, Isaiah and Patricio.
