Jiana Hook (MS, LAT, ATC, CES) joined the UTSA Sports Medicine Staff in May 2019 and currently works with men’s basketball team while overseeing women’s basketball, volleyball and cheer.


Hook is a native of Tucson, Arizona, and graduated from San Diego State in 2016 with her Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training. She then went on to the University of New Mexico to complete her Master of Science in Sports Administration, graduating in 2018. 


While completing coursework, she provided athletic training services to the Lobos’ softball and football programs. Hook also helped to provide coverage for the Mountain West Baseball Championships, the Mountain West Track and Field Championships and was the liaison for the 2017 New Mexico Bowl.


Hook interned at SMU, primarily working with the women’s tennis team but also aided the Mustangs’ football program. She also assisted with gameday operations and sideline coverage for all home Dallas Mavericks basketball games as an assistant to the Sports Medicine staff. Hook is certified in National Academy of Sports Medicine-Corrective Exercise Specialist, Sports and Orthopedic Regenerative Dry Needling Level 1 and Personalized Blood Flow Restriction Rehabilitation.


In her free time, Hook enjoys playing golf, spending time with her family, listening to music, being an Elf on the Shelf and says her favorite superhero is God.
