Jiana Hook joined UTSA’s Sports Medicine Staff in May 2019 and currently works with men’s basketball team as an Associate Athletic Trainer overseeing the Convocation Center.

Hook is a native of Tucson, Arizona, and graduated from San Diego State University in 2016 with her Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training. She then went on to the University of New Mexico to complete her Master of Science in Sports Administration, graduating in 2018. While completing coursework, she provided athletic training services to the Lobos’ Softball and Football programs from 2016-2018.

Hook followed her time at UNM as an intern at Southern Methodist University (2018-2019), working with the Mustang’s Football and Women’s Tennis teams. She also assisted with gameday operations and sideline coverage for all Dallas Mavericks Basketball games as an assistant to the Sports Medicine staff. Since joining the staff at UTSA, Hook has assumed roles working with Volleyball, Men’s and Women’s Tennis, Cheer and Softball, prior to assuming her role as the Men’s Basketball Athletic Trainer in 2022.

Hook is certified in National Academy of Sports Medicine- Corrective Exercise Specialist, Sports and Orthopedic Regenerative Dry Needling Level 1 and Personalized Blood Flow Restriction Rehabilitation.

 

Jiana and her young daughter, Eliana, are frequent fans in the stands to many Roadrunner Athletics games. When not busy being a mom, Hook enjoys playing golf, lifting weights and spending time with her family.
