David Strother is in his first season at UTSA in 2023-24 as a graduate assistant after joining the Roadrunners’ staff at the beginning of the school year. With the Roadrunners, Strother assists with the day-to-day office operations and with on-court activities.

 

Strother came to San Antonio following two seasons as director of player development at the University of South Carolina Aiken, where he was responsible for preparing student-athletes for personal, academic and athletic development success.

Strother wrapped a five-year playing career with the Pacers before moving into athletic administration. At USC-Aiken, he earned All-Peach Belt Conference honors, helping the program to a 17-12 record and No. seed in the PBC tournament during his lone season in Aiken.

Completing his career with 89 wins, Strother won two Peach Belt Conference championships while playing at UNC Pembroke and went to the NCAA tournament in all three seasons with the Braves. He led the conference in assist-turnover ratio as a freshman and ranked in the top 40 nationally. Strother scored 1,046 points through his 94 games at UNCP, growing his total to 1,473 points, 447 assists and 469 rebounds, following a season each at Old Dominion and USC-Aiken to close out his career.

A native of Lumberton, N.C., Strother earned his undergraduate degree from UNCP in 2022.
