Finished his prep career at Village Christian Academy in Fayetteville, North Carolina, playing under current UTSA assistant coach Kurtis Darden … helped lead the Knights to a 22-6 record as a senior and consecutive NCISAA 3-A State Championship runner-up finishes … 2020 NCISAA 3A All-State honoree … second on the team in scoring as a senior and was rated a three-star prospect by Rivals and 247Sports out of high school – ranking as one of the Tarheel State's Top-10 rated high school recruits from the Class of 2020 by multiple services.

Nicknamed JT, was born on June 4 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana … the son of Ronetta Thomas … has three brothers; Quinton, Joshua and Julian … majoring in Multidisciplinary Studies at UTSA … his brother, Quinton played four seasons of DI college basketball, logging 48 games at Nicholls State and 41 games at Southeastern Louisiana.
