A member of the UTSA staff since March 2021, Tim Yoder is in his second season as the program’s assistant tight ends coach.
He previously served as UTSA Player Development Coordinator in 2023 after serving as a graduate assistant for his first two years in San Antonio.
During his time on the UTSA staff, the Roadrunners have registered a 39-15 overall record, 26-6 regular season league mark, two conference championships, four bowl appearances and back-to-back bowl wins.
In 2024, Yoder helped the Roadrunners to a seven-win campaign that was capped with a 44-15 victory over Coastal Carolina in the Myrtle Beach Bowl. Led by second-team all-conference selection Oscar Cardenas, the tight ends combined for 90 receptions, 1,065 yards and 12 touchdowns. UTSA’s offense produced 5,882 total yards, the third-best season tally in school history and an average of 451.2 yards per game, which ranked 12th in the FBS.
In 2023, the Roadrunners posted a 9-4 record, including a 7-1 mark in their debut campaign in the American Athletic Conference. UTSA ended the season with a 35-17 victory over Marshall in the Frisco Bowl for the program’s first-ever bowl win. That year, Yoder helped mentor the running backs, who combined to rush for 1,849 yards and 23 touchdowns on 383 attempts, good for averages of 4.8 yards per carry and 142.2 yards per game.
Yoder also worked with the running backs during his first two seasons on the UTSA staff.
In 2021, Sincere McCormick broke his own single-season school records for rushing yards (1,479), rushing TDs (15), rushes (298) and all-purpose yards (1,663) on his way to earning All-America accolades from the Associated Press, FWAA and Phil Steele, C-USA Offensive Player of the Year and first-team all-conference honors, as well as landing on the finalist list for the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award and semifinalist list for the Doak Walker Award. UTSA finished 12-2 overall, was ranked as high as No. 15 nationally, captured the program’s first-ever conference championship and made an appearance in the Frisco Bowl.
In 2022, UTSA went 11-3 overall, including a perfect 8-0 league ledger en route to a second straight conference title, and earned a spot in the Cure Bowl. Led by Conference USA Freshman of the Year Kevorian Barnes, the running backs combined for 1,819 yards and 18 touchdowns on the ground.
Yoder worked in the private sector before starting his coaching career at UTSA in 2021.
A native of Plano, Texas, Yoder was a running back at Texas from 2015 to 2018, helping the Longhorns to a 10-4 record and Sugar Bowl victory during his senior season. He a four-time member of the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll and he was named to the 2018 Academic All-Big 12 First Team. In 2015, he was coached by current UTSA running backs coach Tommie Robinson, who was part of an offensive staff that also included UTSA head coach Jeff Traylor.
Yoder earned his bachelor’s degree in electrical and computer engineering from Texas in 2018.
