In 2024, Swensen worked with UTSA’s inside linebackers, who combined to produce 188 total tackles, 25.5 tackles for loss, five sacks and 12 quarterback hurries. UTSA established new program standards for tackles for loss in a game with 15 against Tulsa and in a season with 114 while matching the single-game mark for sacks with seven against both Florida Atlantic and Tulsa. UTSA finished the campaign leading the American Athletic Conference in sacks and TFLs, ranking third in the FBS with 8.8 tackles for loss per game and fifth nationally with 3.23 sacks per contest. The Roadrunners also paced the league in rushing defense, allowing only 109.3 yards per game to rank 11th in the FBS, and they registered the AAC’s top percentages for third- (.311) and fourth-down defense (.333), marks that both ranked in the top seven nationally.

In 2023, Swensen worked with the money backers (nickels), helping guide UTSA to a 9-4 record, including a 7-1 mark in its debut season in The American. The Roadrunners capped the year with the program’s first bowl win, a 35-17 victory over Marshall in the Frisco Bowl. The defense broke program single-season records with 46 sacks and 56 quarterback hurries, finishing the year ranked second nationally with 3.54 sacks per game and fifth in the FBS with 7.6 tackles for loss per contest. Individually, Donyai Taylor garnered second-team all-league accolades after recording 46 tackles, seven TFLs, two sacks, six QB hurries, two pass breakups, a 78-yard interception return and a 19-yard fumble return.

A native of Austin and former standout quarterback at Westwood High School, Swensen played at Houston Christian in 2016-18. He appeared in seven games, including completing 6 of 9 passes for 71 yards and a touchdown in the 2017 season finale at fourth-ranked Sam Houston State.

He earned his bachelor’s degree in political science with a minor in business administration from UTSA in 2022 and his data science certificate from UTSA in 2025. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree and facilities management certificate.
