Nate Shaw is in his first season as a graduate assistant coach for the defense, where he works with the linebackers and assists the defensive staff. He is responsible for breaking down and organizing opponents’ film, instructing the scout team, generating practice schedules and scripts and assisting with the recruiting process.

A four-year letterwinner for the Roadrunners, Shaw was the team's primary blocking back during the program's first four seasons. He played in 45 games with 18 starts and despite limited touches, compiled 21 yards and a pair of touchdowns on six carries to go along with 52 yards on seven receptions. He recorded career highs of four carries for 16 yards against Minot State in 2011 and hauled in two passes for 11 yards versus McNeese State a year later.

A two-time team captain at Austin Anderson High School, Shaw earned All-District 25-5A laurels at guard in each of his final two seasons. He was an honorable mention all-district selection at linebacker as a sophomore.

Shaw earned a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from UTSA in May 2015.
