Sophomore (2023): Played in all 57 games, earning a start in 56 of them – all at shortstop… held a .318 batting average with 69 hits, 45 runs and 58 RBI… recorded 23 extra-base hits, including 11 doubles, six triples and six home runs… picked 22 multi-hit games and 14 multi-RBI games… his best games came against Saint Mary’s (CA) on Feb. 25 when he went 4-for-5 with a pair of doubles and runs scored and on April 21 at FIU when he had a 4-for-6 showing with five RBI and three runs scored… ended the season with the seventh-most triples (6) in the nation… longest reached-base streak was 13 games… had the Roadrunners’ first home run of the season, against Tarleton on Feb. 18.
Freshman (2022): Won the starting shortstop battle early in the year and held it down for UTSA, starting 41 games at short and a game apiece at second and first … hit .237 with a .348 OBP … recorded 31 hits in 156 at-bats with 12 doubles, a triple and a home run to earn 28 RBI … got his first career start on 2/19 at Tarleton … had two three-hit games on the year (3/20 La Tech and 4/1 Charlotte) … recorded his first career home run against UAB on 5/19 … was the first UTSA freshman named to the conference All-Freshman team since 2018.
Prior to UTSA
High School: Played for coach Bruce Cox at Kingwood Park High School in the Greater Houston Area … his senior season he was a first team All-State shortstop … named the 20-5A Offensive MVP … hit .447 with a school record 10 HRs and a school record 57 RBIs ... named preseason All-Houston Area at shortstop for 2020 … tabbed second-team all-district in 2019 at shortstop … named second-team all-district at third base in 2018 … a 2018 UIL Texas State semifinalst … also played basketball as a sophomore.
Personal: Born in Houston, Texas … son of Brian King and Eric Fernandez … has an older brother and a younger sister … interested in pursuing a career in criminal justice.
