Sailors
Alan Sailors is in his second season in 2023 as UTSA's volunteer assistant coach. He was announced on Sept. 29, 2021.

Sailors works directly with UTSA’s coaching staff on the day-to-day management of the program, while also tutoring UTSA’s catchers and outfielders.

In his first season with the Roadrunners, Sailors oversaw the catching duo of Josh Killeen and Sammy Diaz combine for 86 hits, 16 doubles and seven home runs. The two alternated behind the plate on and off throughout the season. Sailors helped lead Diaz to the Buster Posey Watchlist which recognizes the nation’s best catchers.

His 2022 outfield players were veteran-laden and were some of the most consistent on the team thanks to Sailors lining them up and helping with their positioning. Rightfielder Chase Keng earned a Hitter of the Week award (5/23) for his solid play and was also named to the All-Conference USA tournament team.

Sailors came to the Roadrunners after serving as the volunteer assistant coach at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi from 2018-21.

In the 2019 season, Islander’s catchers finished near the top in all defensive categories, with all three catchers finishing first, second and third in percentage of runners caught stealing.

Before heading to Corpus Sailors served as the catching/recruiting coordinator at Trinity University in San Antonio, and has also spent time on the staff at Texas Lutheran, Meridian [Miss.] Community College, Mary Hardin-Baylor and his alma mater, Howard Payne.

Sailors was a four-year letterwinner and three-year starter behind the plate at Howard Payne. As a senior, Sailors paced the conference in percentage of runners caught stealing, while ranking second in total runners nabbed attempting to steal.

Sailors graduated from Howard Payne University with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Sport Sciences in 2013 before earning a master's degree in Sports Administration from Mary Hardin-Baylor. In June 2018, Sailors married Amy Potts.
