Junior (2022): Developed into the Roadrunners’ de facto high-leverage/closing pitcher in his first year with the squad … toted a 3-1 record with five saves over 16 relief appearances where he threw 27.1 innings and allowed 10 runs on 13 hits, walking 13 and striking out 38 … opposing batters hit just .137 against him, the lowest mark on the team … was shut down at the end of April after suffering a season-ending injury … before the injury, Shafer was on pace to shatter the single season save record … recorded both a three-game and four-game streak of not allowing a hit … picked up his first save of the year against Seattle (2/25) … earned pitcher of the week in early March thanks to his stellar performance against No. 2 Stanford (2/28) … against the Cardinal, Shafer pitched both the ninth and the tenth of a tied game and held the potent Cardinal offense to no hits or runs while striking out four … tallied a career-high six Ks at Baylor in 2.1 scoreless innings of work on 3/22 … notched his first win at UIW on 3/29 … went toe-to-toe with D1Baseball’s No. 1 closer Noah Dean at Old Dominion (4/9) and showed out … at ODU, Shafer threw the 9th -through 11th innings where he didn’t allow a hit or a run and matched his career high with six punchouts.

Bossier Parish CC (2019-21): coached by Bobby Gilliam … He was named to the Chancellor’s list both seasons … Had 20 appearances over the two seasons and posted a 3-1 record … posted 6 career saves … through 22.1 innings pitched, he allowed a 5.24 ERA.
High School: Attended Willis HS where he was coached by Brad Propst … his senior year he earned First Team All-District.
