Junior (2017)
Appeared in 20 games on the mound, including six starts … pitched 41.2 innings and posted a 1-3 record … struck out 35 hitters and walked 15 … two of six starts were in conference play … had five scoreless relief appearances … struck out a season-high six over 4.0 innings in a start against Quinnipiac on Feb. 17 … had a season-best 5.0 innings against WKU on April 9 … held the Hilltoppers to three hits in relief, struck out five and picked up the victory.
Sophomore (2016)
Paced the Roadrunners pitching staff with a 4.22 ERA over a staff-best 79 innings … made 16 appearances, including 12 starts, and posted a 1-6 mark … struck out 49 batters, which is best for second on the team … got the starting nod in the season opener and was masterful in his 7.1 innings of action as he recorded six strikeouts against UConn (2/19) and retired 13 straight after allowing a home run in the top of the second ... longest start this season was against Louisiana Tech (5/1) where he went 8.1 innings and led UTSA to a 5-4 win … longest appearances in relief was against Charlotte (5/14) and worked six innings and allowed three runs … after pitching the series opener against Southern Miss, came back to pitch four innings in relief against Baylor (3/29) and retired 10 of 11 batters before giving up a double that jumpstarted the Bears’ rally … fanned a season-best seven against Marshall (4/10) in 7.1 innings to take his third loss of the year … allowed 21 walks this season – the best out of any starter – which tied for eighth in Conference USA.
Freshman (2015)
Conference USA All-Freshman Team … made 21 appearances in first season, including six starts … only complete game of the season came at No. 16 Rice (4/19) when he pitched the Roadrunners to a 7-1 victory over the Owls and struck out a career-high nine and did not allow a walk … the right-hander logged 60.2 innings and posted a 4.90 ERA with a 5-4 record … the freshman finished second on the pitching staff with 52 strikeouts and issued just 22 walks … in his third longest outing of the year at Texas State (3/31), Kirby worked seven innings from the start and struck out eight, walked two and allowed four runs on six hits for his second win of the season … concluded the year with five games of five-plus strikeouts.
High School
Four-year letter winner who was a dual player for Hyde Park Baptist High School in Austin … tossed two no-hitters and posted 10-1 record with a 0.72 ERA and 130 strikeouts as a senior … also collected 40 RBIs with four home runs and batted at a .420 clip … two-time all-state and four-time all-district selection.
