Cornejo was a four-year starter and letterwinner at John Jay High School…The local product batted .375, with 10 home runs in his final year as a Mustang…He ended high school career with 23 bombs and a .370 batting average, while maintaining a 0.89 ERA…Cornejo was all-district from 2002-2005, all-city from 2004-05…He was also MVP of District 27-5A, last season…Led the Mustangs to back-to-back district championships in 2004-05.
