Athletic Medicine Visitor Information

The UTSA athletic training staff welcomes you to our campus. The following will give you information as to what will be supplied at various events during your visit. Should you need something not listed please contact a member of the athletic training staff in advance and every possible effort will be made to accommodate your needs.

The athletic training room will be open 1-1 ½ hours prior to event time or earlier, if necessary. Should you need access to the athletic training room earlier, please contact a member of the UTSA athletic training staff and arrangements will be made. The training room is equipped with various modalities for your use including ultrasound, heat packs, ice, e-stim, hot/cold whirlpool and rehabilitation equipment. If your team is traveling without an athletics trainer, please send written instructions regarding the treatment of your student-athletes so they can be cared for in a timely manner. While written instructions are not required, it will help to expedite taking care of your student-athletes.

Baseball
Home games for UTSA are played at two different locations: Wolff Stadium, which is an off-campus site, and Roadrunner Field which is located on the UTSA campus. The following items will be provided for your team's use during games against UTSA.

Roadrunner Field
Since Roadrunner Field is located on the UTSA campus, your team will have access to our training room. The following items will also be available:

· AED
· Splint kit
· Stretcher
· Crutches

Items provided in the dugout
· 2 10-gallon coolers of water
· Cups
· Treatment ice with ice bags
· Biohazard supplies
· 5 dry towels
· Ammonia bucket or ice towel bucket (depending on weather)

After the game if your team will need locker room facilities to shower, please let us know in advance, so that they can be set up accordingly. Towels and soap will be provided.

Wolff Stadium
Wolff Stadium is a city owned facility that is leased to the Seattle Mariners Baseball club. Because of this the athletic training facilities are not available for use. However there will be a hot hydrocollator and ice for your use. Should you desire, arrangements can be made to use the athletic training facilities at UTSA. Please be aware that it is approximately a 20-30 minute drive from UTSA to Wolff Stadium depending on traffic. The following items will be provided at Wolff Stadium:

· AED
· Splint kit
· Stretcher
· Crutches

Items provided in the dugout
· 4 pack hot hydrocollator
· 2 10-gallon coolers of water
· Cups
· Treatment ice with ice bags
· A biohazard supplies
· 5 dry towels
· Ammonia bucket or ice towel bucket (depending on weather)
· Medical waste bag

There is a possibility that the visitors locker room will be available for use and for shower use, this is dependant on the time of year.
 


Basketball
For all basketball games, there will be a physician in attendance. The following items will be supplied for UTSA men's and women's basketball games:

· AED
· Splint kit
· Crutches
· Stretcher

· Ice with bags
· 10 towels per half
· Cups
· Biohazard supplies

Items provided in the locker room
· 1 5- or 10-gallon cooler of water

Cross Country
There will be a physician at all cross-country meets or on call, along with an ambulance with advanced life support capability in attendance or on call. Additionally, the following items will be provided:

· Crutches
 


Softball
The following items will be provided at UTSA Softball games:

· AED
· Splint kit
· Crutches
· Stretcher
· Shower towels and soap (if requested)

Tennis
The athletics training room will be available for treatments and taping. Additionally, there is ice at the UTSA Tennis Center and taping can take place at the tennis center as well.
 


Track & Field
Track & field meets are held on-campus at the Park West Athletics Complex. There will be a physician in attendance or on call. The following items will be provided:
