MUST BE SOMETHING IN THE WATER
In each of UTSA’s past four home matches, opponents have tallied 10 or more service errors, including 21 from USF on Sunday. Over that span, the Roadrunners’ opposition has posted 13.25 missed serves per night, climbing to 14.33 in American contests (2.87 per set). In total, opponents have sent 93 serves either out of play or into the net across eight competitions at the Convocation Center this fall.
THE MAGIC NUMBER
UTSA has held its opponents below a .250 hitting percentage on 11 occasions this season. The ‘Runners enter the week 11-0 in such outings. Meanwhile, all six matches in which the opposition has hit at least .250 ended in defeat for the Navy & Orange. In nine of the Roadrunners’ 11 victories, opponents hit below .200, with five such contests coming at home.
ABOUT THE MEAN GREEN
North Texas is under the direction of second-year head coach Dave Fleming, who boasts a 30-17 record in his time with the program. The Mean Green are out to a 9-8 start this year, holding a 2-4 mark in league play to match UTSA. The squad played two five-set affairs a week ago, toppling USF on Friday before falling at Temple on Sunday.
Last year, UTSA and UNT met twice in the regular season, with the Mean Green prevailing in four sets from Denton and sweeping the ‘Runners in San Antonio. Caroline Tredwell combined for 18 kills and six blocks across the two meetings, coupling with 15 total kills and nine rejections from Gigi Mason.
