SAN ANTONIO — UTSA will close out the fall slate this Monday-Wednesday, Oct. 12-14, at the Golf Iconic Classic, which will be contested at New Mexico State Golf Course in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
The Roadrunners will travel a lineup made up of Victoria Schuldt, Yiwei Zhao, Lauren Rios, Lydia Lin and Miah Wanserski.
UTSA will compete against Cal Poly, Cal State Northridge, Drake, Fresno State, Houston Christian, Idaho, Idaho State, Nebraska, New Mexico State, Northern Arizona, Northern Colorado, San Diego State, Southern Utah, Tarleton, UC Riverside, UIW, UT Arlington and UTEP.
The field will play 18 holes each day and live scoring will be provided at scoreboard.clippd.com.
The Roadrunners are coming off an 11th-place showing at the Ron Moore Intercollegiate last week in Colorado. Schuldt finished in a four-way tie for 15th with an even-par 216 to lead the way.
This will mark UTSA’s maiden voyage to the state of New Mexico and its second straight visit to the Mountain time zone.
Lin leads the Roadrunners in scoring average with a 71.4 mark over five rounds. The transfer from China has posted a par-or-better scorecard four times this season, headlined by a 5-under 67 in her UTSA debut at The Bruzzy where she placed eighth with an 8-under 208.
Zhao boasts the second-best stroke average with a 73.3 across six rounds. The freshman from China has recorded four par-or-better scores, while her top finish and 54-hole total came at The Bruzzy (T-30th/216).
Rios ranks third on the squad with a 74.78 average over nine rounds. The fifth-year senior out of Coppell High School has broken 70 twice, doing so in back-to-back rounds to cap a 5-under 211 for 15th at The Bruzzy.
Schuldt carries a 74.89 stroke average and five par-or-better scorecards in nine rounds this season. The sophomore from Germany picked up a share of her first collegiate crown with a 10-under 206 (68-67-71) at The Bruzzy.
Wanserski has appeared in a pair of tournaments during her true freshman campaign. The Downers Grove, Illinois, native turned in her top round of 74 at The Bruzzy, while her best finish is a tie for 54th at the Canadian Collegiate Invitational.
