Roadrunners wrap main draw at ITA Texas Regionals

FORT WORTH, Texas – A quintet of Roadrunners were in main draw action on Friday at the 2026 ITA Texas Regionals at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center, as Timeo Bretin, Gabriel Jalouneix, Enzo Vargas, Dmitri Goubin and Victor Rocha all battled in the round of 64 singles at the Regional event. The group were joined by Joel Hansson in taking three doubles pairs into competition as well.

Opening the morning in doubles action, Rocha and Bretin took on Lamar’s Fabian Anthin and Stefano Chappuis, dropping an 8-3 result. Hansson and Jalouneix also saw and 8-2 setback to Louis Bowden and Radek Chodora from Baylor, while Vargas and Goubin closed out the main draw with an 8-5 loss to UIW’s Alejandro Flores Monteverde and Santiago Flyckt. Hansson and Jalouneix returned to action in the consolation rounds, defeating Rice’s pair, 8-7.

In singles play, Bretin opened things up against Texas’ Mariano Dedura-Palomero, claiming the first set at 7-5, but Dedura-Palomero strung together 6-1 and 6-3 scores across the next two for the win to move on to the next round.

Rocha faced Abilene Christian’s Luis Jose Goubin Nakamine, falling in a 6-3, 6-2 finish. In the second wave of the afternoon, Jalouneix pushed the first set to a 10-8 tiebreaker setback against UT Arlington’s Filip Paroulek, but saw a 6-2 second set push Paroulek on to the next round. Vargas stretched Rice’s Petro Kuzmenok to a 13-11 opening-set tiebreaker loss and to extras in the second set, but fell in a 7-6, 7-5 finish. Rounding out the day, Texas A&M’s Amirkhamza Nasridinov went 6-1, 6-1 over Goubin.

The Roadrunners will be back in action on Saturday in Fort Worth with consolation singles set for the day’s competition.
