SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA cross country team will be back in action on Friday, as they are set to take on the 2026 Joe Paine Notre Dame Cross Country Invitational in South Bend, Indiana, at the Burke Golf Course. The men will start with the 8k at 9:40 a.m. CT, competing in the Blue Division, while the women will run the Gold Division 5k at 11 a.m. CT.
Junior Andruw Villa and classmate Meryeme Mai carry momentum into the race after recently being named American Conference Athletes of the Week for their performances at the UIW Invitational, with Mai clocking in at 17:12 to win the women’s 5k and Villa placing second for the second time in as many races in the men’s 8k.
Along with Villa, sophomore David Zuniga and freshman Zac Mangum will be back in action after finishing in the top-25 last time out. Also in action are sophomore Austin Lyda and freshmen Landon Fluckiger, Matthew Cato, Murff McLaughlin, Christion Meiners, and Thomas Tamayo.
Freshman Cadence Harris joins Mai in the women’s contingent after placing 12th last time out, while classmate Kira Albino was 19th and Ana Garza 21st. Senior Gracie Ortiz, sophomore Joule Cavazos and freshmen Haley Hill, Alexia Rosas and Ryland Ross-Jurado will round out the field.
